During the first months of 2023, despite challenges across the domestic economy, Chu Lai Port still achieved encouraging results. In the first quarter, Chu Lai Port throughput reached nearly 1 million tons, including nearly 600,000 tons of container cargo and 400,000 tons of bulk and liquid cargo.

Also in the same period, the port has received and released nearly 200 exporting and importing ships, mainly carrying auto parts, mechanical parts, fruits, tapioca starch, tablets, wood chips, household goods, and garments, etc. of businesses from Central Vietnam, Central Highlands, or Laos.

Facing fierce competition in the market, the port has applied different solutions, from making changes in management and business operations and boosting investment to improve service quality, lower prices, and meet increasing customer demands.

In addition, the port has been investing in synchronized infrastructure, including building a new system of warehouses and container yards, building a 50,000-ton terminal, coordinating with Quang Nam province to dredge a channel, invest in cargo loading vehicles (STS, RTG cranes) to improve goods handling capacity as well as save time and costs for customers.Up to now, the average ship clearance speed has increased 10-15% compared to 2022. Besides, the port also applies flexible policies for each type of cargo from time to time to release ships quickly and increase efficiency. In 2023, Chu Lai Port aims to reach 4.5 million tons of cargo through the port, recording a 12.5% increase year on year.
