THILOGI strengthens transports for strategic and high-potential products from Laos
After evaluating different ports in Central Vietnam, Laos Bauxite Company in Sekong Province, Laos has chosen Chu Lai Port as its partner to carry out transports, customs clearance, goods storage, handling and export. On August 7, THILOGI trucked more than 1,500 tons of bauxite of Laos Bauxite Company from Dak Cheung, Sekong Province, Laos through the Nam Giang border checkpoint to Chu Lai Port in Vietnam where the freight would be shipped to China.
Nearly 50 trucks were used to transport the goods from Laos to the Vietnamese port for export. Expectedly, on average the company will export about 20,000 tons of ore each month through Chu Lai port.
Laos has high potentials in minerals, including gold, silver, copper, bauxite, iron, etc. As a result, THILOGI is promoting the transport of this type of goods in the provinces of Savannakhet, Xaisomboun, Sekong, Attapeu for export through Chu Lai Port.
Previously, the Attapeu delegation, led by Mr. Tha Nu Xay Ban Xalit, the provincial deputy governor discussed with THILOGI on the needs to transport the province's exports through Chu Lai Port. The two sides talked about transport capacity, customs clearance procedures, storage and ore handling solutions at the port to lower costs and improve competitiveness.
Due to its strategic location in in the heart of the central key economic region, well-developed transportation infrastructure and full-service supply chain, Chu Lai Port has become the hub of domestic and foreign trades. To improve its service quality, the port continues to invest in modern technologies to increase productivity, shorten ship turn-around time, and protect the environment in ore handling. In the near future, the port is expected to export about 2 million tons of ore per year from Laos.
